Confluence began as an exploration of tension — how collective movement can be momentarily suspended. Commissioned to anchor the reimagined reception of 5 New Street Square, the installation responds to the constant flow of the City beyond its doors.
Rising through an 8.9-metre atrium, over 14,000 hand-folded elements converge into a swirling form that appears to hover in stillness. Typically kinetic materials are transformed through folding, repetition, and suspension, balancing fragility with structural precision. Installed above the main circulation space, the sculpture invites viewers to slow their pace, look upward, and experience a pause between arrival and departure — a quiet moment of reflection within a highly active urban environment.
