The OWO Penthouse
London, 2023
Client: The OWO, Winch Design
Materials: Hand-Folded Tyvek, Suspended with Stainless Steel Cable and Ceiling Fixings.
Commissioned by Winch Design as part of the OWO Penthouse, this bespoke hallway installation emerged from a desire to soften transition — transforming a traditionally formal corridor into a moment of release. The conceptual origin began with paper as a metaphor for breath and pause: folded, restrained, then gently set into motion.
The primary challenge was introducing lightness and movement within a historically significant interior without disrupting its architectural integrity. Hand-folded paper panels were explored as both material and technique, allowing rhythm, translucency, and shadow to animate the space without visual weight.
Installed along the approach to the inner penthouse, the suspended forms subtly sway with passing bodies and air currents. As residents move through the corridor, the work responds — slowing the pace, lifting the gaze, and inviting a moment of reflection. The act of unfolding becomes shared: the artists’ careful process mirrored in the viewer’s own unwinding, marking the threshold between exterior pressure and interior calm.
